Ohio manufacturing reignited with innovation.

"Walking through a toy factory is magical, especially with decades of history." 

Wells Manufacturing started as a booming toy factory, making quality toys and spreading joy nationwide. But in 2004, China moved to undercut U.S. production, leaving manufacturing companies struggling to compete with unfair commodity pricing and cheap labor. The results were devastating. Manufacturing plants, once filled with hard work and laughter, were abandoned. Communities like New Vienna, Ohio, were left with unemployed workers. 

Wells Manufacturing stayed alive, but not without wounds. Commitment by ownership, resources, and long nights saved Well's potential. The long-serving plant manager and mother of six led the long-haul fight for revival. Through strategic spending on research and development, Wells developed a never-before-seen product, Rainbow Mulch. Rainbow Mulch is a closed-cell sponge rubber with superior fall protection, perfectly designed for an interactive play material and protective surface. It's soft, non-staining, and does not hold water. 

It took over a decade of innovation and grit, but today, Wells is successfully manufacturing and breathing life back into USA-made products. Wells found a way to climb back to the top by tapping into its legacy of quality manufacturing and pairing it with the needs of today's market. In 2022, Wells launched Fetch Boy, a vintage-inspired line of dog toys. Dog owners give genuine love to their dogs with a classic game of fetch; their dogs enjoy high-quality, non-toxic rubber balls, perfect for fetching, floating, and gnawing. 

Wells product divisions are thriving, yet there will be no letting up. China will make another takedown attempt in the future. With this legacy's strength and the community's support, Wells welcomes the challenge. There is much more to come.
